Shakespeare i Park'n (Shakespeare in the Park)

Hello, sunflowers!

Yesterday, I went to watch a really funny improvised amateur play that could have been written by Shakespeare according to the actors and actress. The audience got to choose between tragedy and a comedy, then a letter, which P was chosen, then a place starting with P, Pisa and then a saying starting with P, and the saying chosen was Prisad vare gud, här kommer skatteåterbäringen! (Praise the Lord, Here comes the tax refund!)

The Audience choosed a comedy play, taking place in Pisa. The play was about a love stricken Guillermo that was oh, so in love with Stephano but Stephano only desired new things and was always looking on the other side where the grass might be greener. Guillermo then tried to climb the leaning mountain of Pisa but got stopped by the tax collector that said that the duchess had but a tax on climbing the mountain which he could not afford and went home to his hard working sister at the tavern.

Guillermo's bitter sister Adriana only complained about the taxes that the duchess had brought upon them, nothing was free any more, when she got abruptly disturbed by Hectavia the barbarian that kicked in the door of the tavern and exclaimed that this was the only place that made Pisa liveable, cause the only thing that could keep her standing was wine and the oh, so gorgeous woman (Adriana) working there that they wanted to do naughty deeds with and that she, Hectavia was not afraid to say what she thought and take what she wanted. Upon hearing that spitting twice was taxed made a dash for the duchess to stop her ludicrous taxes.

The Duchess Julia was a bitter and heartbroken woman has her only love and betrothed had left her with a tax evader and now she wanted everyone to feel her grief and make them pay by putting taxes on everything, and after Hectavia had stormed in she set a new tax where love was going to be taxes with 10.000 doubloon so nobody could afford to love!

Which made Guillermo and Stephano devastated as Gulliermo had finally gotten Stephano to agree to they're love and become married but now this new tax made it impossible. Guillermo came up with the plan to mask himself as a monk and try to make duchess Julia desire and fall in love with him so that he could make her take away the tax on love.

In the meantime two other gentleman Julius and his assistant came riding towards the leaning mountain and meet the tax collector at the base of it that wanted to tax them for synchronizing there movement when they stepped of the horses and upon learning that the duchess had put a tax on the climbing the leaning mountain Julius discovered how bitter his ex, the duchess Julia had become and how much he regretted that he had left her, came up with the idea to dress up as a monk to try and make her love him again.

Adriana had in the mean time been jailed as she laughed at a bad joke which was tax more than she could pay, which made Hectavia promise that she would get her out by dressing up as a monk and make the duchess love her so that she could take away all the taxes and set her love Adriana free so they could have a passionate night together.

The duchess Julia got surprised when a monk came knocking on her gates and got to meet Guillermo's dress up as a monk and soften her bone dry and thirsty heart with him smooth and gentle words but he got interrupted as another monk (Hectavia) came knocking on her gates and sent away Guillermo to meet the new guest.

That kicked down her door and stepped up to her and said that they desired her so much that they where willing to throw away they're promise of chastity for her but Hectavia also got interrupted by third monk knock.

The third monk made her heart beat like it once had when her beloved Julius had been there but she was so angry with him that she told the third monk that she was going to tax him for life until death! But then the monk that had the perfect balance between desire and love captured her heart and relieved that it was him Julius, as duchess Julia was about to seemingly strangle Julius, she kissed him and he promised to never leave her again as long as she took away all the tax and at least Guillermo and Stephano could marry and so did Adriana with Hectavia the barbarian and set of to roam the outskirts of Pisa.

It was so funny to watch three people, two guys and one girl put up this play. They always had to run and change wigs and swords as the two guys both played female characters and the one and only kiss in this play was made between them two, one as duchess Julia and the other as Julius. And it all ended with the saying Prisad vare gud, här kommer skatteåterbäringen on Guillermo and Stephano's wedding where the play ended.

I did laugh a lot during this play as it was so funny and some of the things they said was so of the context of what was happening although it did get really warm as we all where sitting outside in a park in the sun, it was 18 degrees in the shadow. I have to say that this was a great way at having a fun and nice time in the sun at the park! I totally recommend going and seeing something like this! It was also for free which was another plus.

Phew! What a long Post! I might post up some pictures a took while watching this, if the pictures are not to blurry.
