Despicable Me 2

Despicable Me 2

I really liked Despicable Me so of course I had to go and see Despicable Me 2 and it did not disappoint me, I actually went to the cinema twice and watched it.

Despicable Me 2
It's messy being undercover

Despicable Me 2 is about the ex-super villain Gru that has started to adjust to family life and working in the jam business, while a secret laboratory in the Arctic Circle get’s stolen. The Anti-Villain League recruits Gru in the investigation as they need insider help, together with Anti-Villain League’s eccentric agent Lucy Wilde. But Gru seems to get on the wrong track when he suspects the presumed dead super villain El Macho as he seems to have gotten blinded by overprotectiveness for his children as El Macho’s son his hitting on his daughter Margo and his growing attraction to Lucy, while his minions are being kidnapped.

El Macho!

I love this film! It’s so funny and leaves me satisfied and happy afterwards. It is well made and the plot was nice. But the best with this film is of course the minions! They are hilarious and one would never have a dull moment with them around!

Ahh~ the lovable minions!

Score: 5

Obviously I don’t own the pictures the credits go to the maker and owner of them.

Epic (Epic - Skogens hemliga rike)

Epic
The cinema poster

I have been absent a bit from this blog. Mainly because of studies and then I went on a weeks’ vacation in Turkey but lately I have helped my mother to move. It’s surprising how much people own and how freaking many boxes it becomes when you move. Finally it’s over so I am going to come back now!
First I am going to write about Epic or the Swedish title: Epic - Skogens hemliga rike.

Epic 2
Wouldn't you like to fly like that?

Epic is about Mary Katherine called M.K. have returned to her father’s home. Her father is an eccentric scientist that is consumed by his quest to find a tiny civilization in the forest close to the house. This obsession pushes M.K. and her father apart but soon M.K. finds herself shrunken down by the Queen of the forest Tara and gets the quest to safely deliver the pod that bears the new Queen. She gets together with a group of mismatch characters a veteran leaf warrior, a young maverick and two molluscs in a war of good and evil to save they’re world and our world.

Epic 3
Looks like a nice group of characters

I thought that this animated film was pretty good; I like stories like this one. They have a tendency to bring some of the feeling I had when I was younger. I used to believe such thing actually was exciting when I was younger and the world was so much more magical that way. I also liked how this was animated, it looked pretty good and it was fun to watch. A great recommendation to watch when or if you have to baby-sit!

Score: 4

Mockingbird Lane - Pilot

Mockingbird Lane
Seems like a nice family.

It has been a while since I wrote something here but that is because of studies that I have had to do. This time it is the pilot of Mockingbird Lane that I will write about.

Mockingbird Lane

Mockingbird Lane is a re-imagining of “The Munsters” as a one hour drama. The pilot is about Grandpa Sam Dracula, he was the one that assembled Herman the husband of his daughter the vampire Lily. Marilyn is the niece of Lily and is considered as the freak in the family as she is normal. Lily and Herman’s son Eddie has started to hit puberty and surfacing tendencies as a werewolf  is starting and that forces the family to relocate to 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

Mockingbird Lane
Do you want to have a cuddle with that thing?

I like the things that Bryan Fuller has been doing and this pilot did have his touch. The pilot was an interesting take on “The Munsters” without just doing a modern version of it. I liked the modern twists, it was witty and the actors did a really good work, also I really liked the way they styled the characters, for example Herman's big scars.

Even though I kind of thought it was slightly ridiculous, I could see a lot of potential in the pilot and I really wish the NBC would have seen that too and it's a shame that they didn't pick it up, hopefully someone other out there as seen the potential of the pilot and picks it up and makes Mockingbird Lane into a TV-series. I would really enjoy seeing it evolve into something great!

The score: 3

(Obviously, I don't own the pictures all the credits goes to the maker and owner of them).

American Horror Story: Murder House

AmericanHorrorStory

This is another TV-series that I got recommended to watch from a friend of my. She pulled me into this series by making me watch it with her and I am very glad that she did.

AmericanHorrorStory
I really like the feel of this picture.

The TV-serie is about a family Vivien, Ben and Violet Harmon that moves into a restored mansion, not being aware of the former inhabitants are haunting the mansion.

AmericanHorrorStory
Always nice with some company.

I thought this TV-serie was interesting to watch, quite refreshing to watch a horror based tv-series. The scenery was nice and well-made and the actors/actresses did a really good job but what I liked the most was the background stories of the former inhabitants and the history of the house, it was very interesting to watch. I will definitely give season 2 a go, sound very interesting with an asylum this time as a playground for hauntings.

The score: 4

(Obviously, I don't own the pictures all the credits goes to the maker and owner of them).

Misfits Season 1

Misfits
I really like the intro to this TV-series.

One of my best friends recommended me to watch this TV-series, so I had to give it a go as she really has good taste and she was really good at selling it in. Thanks for the recommendation!

Misfits

Misfits are about a group of young offenders that gets sentenced to work at a community service programme and after a storm they develop supernatural powers.

Misfits
Anger issues someone!

This TV-serie is really funny and a bit difference from many other supernatural powers TV-series and movies. I like the blend of characters and the strange events that takes place and other people they meet that also have powers. I am going to give the other seasons a go too and I suggest you at least to give the first season a try! Many thanks again to my dear friend that recommended me to watch Misfits!

Score: 4 out of 5.

Django Unchained

DjangoUnchained

It felt like a perfect day to go and watch a movie yesterday (14/2) at the cinema since I didn’t have any school that day. Yay!

DjangoUnchained
Relaxing in the sun with the gun.

Django Unchained is about a slave that gets parted from his wife Broomhilda. When the Speck brothers are escorting him and four other slaves, they come across Dr. King Schultz that buys Django by force from the Speck brothers. Dr. King Schultz and Django enter an agreement that Django are going to join Schultz and bounty hunt with him until spring and he will help Django to rescue his wife.

Who would like to marry this guy?

The movie was pretty good, nice scenery, humor and all. Of course it was a lot of shooting and blood. But the movie also brought up the nastiness that probably might have happened during that period and the treatment of slaves. If you like bang bang and blood I do suggest you to give it a go.

Score: 3

Lexx Season 1

What a space craft!

The first season is about a group of mismatched fugitives named Stanley Tweedle, Zev, Kai (an undead Divine Assassin) and the robot head 790 and how they accidently steals the most powerful space craft named Lexx as they are feeling from the planet Cluster and His Divine Shadow. As they are trying to find a new home, they have to return to Cluster to fill up on protoblood that Kai needs in order to live outside his cryochamber. While on Cluster they discover the Gigashadow.

I really like Lexx! The first time I discovered Lexx was on TV4 Science Fiction, but back then I only saw an odd episode here and an odd episode there and thought “what the hell, is this?!” but at the same time I thought it was hilarious because of all they weird things going on, and the characters reactions to them. It was this that lured me in and made me watch the first season that is made up by four movies about Lexx to get the background of the characters. The first episode and the fourth episode are they best in the first season according to me. I will write about the other seasons too so just wait and watch!

Would you like a cuddly pet like that?

I do recommend others to see it but don’t except Babylon 5, Star Trek or anything like that, if you expect that than you are going to get disappointed. This series is just about pure weirdness, entertainment and the hilariousness of the situations the crew gets in and they’re reactions to it.

Score: 3 out of 5.

The Scores

I thought it would be good to clarify the scores that I use, so here they are.

1 = Bad or Meh…

2 = Okay.

3 = Good.

4 = Very Good.

5 = Awesome!

Cosmopolis

Cosmopolis
I don't own the picture.

Today, I thought it was a perfect day to watch Cosmopolis as I had to call in sick.

The movie is about a billionaire named Eric Packer that rides across Manhattan in his limo to get a haircut. On the way to the barber he meets some characters in his limo and slowly his world gets torn apart.

Cosmopolis
I don't own the picture.

Not the best movie to watch when you are at home sick. I thought the movie was quite boring. After a while in all I heard was “blah blah blah” of all the talking in the movie. Maybe if I had been in another mood I might have half liked it but the characters and the conversation they shared didn’t pull me in and I think you have to be in a certain mood when you watch it. One positive point is that I liked the scenery and how it was filmed.

I think I have to give this movie a score of 1 ½ out of 5.

Hugs and sunshine to you all~

The Bletchley Circle

TheBletchleyCircle
I don't own the picture.

I watched this on the TV with my mother and stepfather when it was on during the beginning of January.

It’s a murder mystery drama that is in the setting of 1952, where four women that used to work at Bletchley Park as code breakers. They reunite when Susan start to see a pattern between a series of murders are taking place. Patterns that the police are missing and overlooking. So they start their own investigation to catch the murderer.

BletchleyCircle
I don't own the picture.

I really like this TV-serie! The setting and scenery are really good and it’s interesting to see how the life in the 50’s could be and how women were perceived and how they were supposed to be and do. But of course! But the most interesting of course are the murders taking place and how they are trying to located and catch the murderer!! My recommendation to you is to give it a chance, it’s only 3 episodes! I really, really hope that they will make a season 2!

Score: 4 out of 5.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

TheHobbit

I went to see The Hobbit 22/12-2012, after having done some baking with my aunt Malin. I really wanted to see it and I didn't feel disappointed after I had seen it.

TheHobbit
Not my first pick of a place for a walk.

Well, the movie The Hobbit: An unexpected Journey is about the young Bilbo Baggins. That goes on a journey with a group of dwarves and Gandalf. They’re destination is The Lonely Mountain to reclaim the dwarves stolen mountain, now home of the dragon Smaug.

TheHobbit
It looks so nice to live there.

I saw The Hobbit in high frame rate and I have to say that I did like it. It was more depth than “ordinary” 3D, and I thought it looked good. Sure it was not a “WOW” experience and one of the downsides was that once or twice when a character moved it looked like someone wind it forward for a second or two.I thought that this movie was very good and with beautiful and great scenery. Also Martin Freeman really fitted as the role of Bilbo.

Score: 4 ½ out of 5.

Historieätarna

Historieätarna
What a party!

I know, I know… This isn’t a movie but a Swedish TV-show corresponding to The Supersizers Go… from United Kingdom. I have watched The Supersizers Go… before I watched Historieätarna. I was quite happy about the Swedish version of The Supersizers Go… As I liked the one from United Kingdom and I thought it would be funny to see what we ate in the past in Sweden. The program leaders where fun to watch and the things they got to do and eat.

Historieätarna
Yes, please! I want a season 2!

I do recommend you to give it a go!

Score: 4 out of 5.

The Woman in Black

TheWomaninBlack

(Actual date was 31/10-2012). After being at the cinema I went for a movie night with a friend of mine and his friends. We watched some older horror and thriller films before we saw The Woman in Black.

It’s a British horror film based on Susan Hill’s novel with the same name. The film is about a young lawyer that has lost his wife and in order to keep his job he needs to travel to a remote village. He finds that the locals are being terrorized by a vengeful ghost.

TheWomaninBlack
Candles, you always need candles!

The scenery and props that were used in the film was really good and thought through but the scene’s that were supposed to make thrilled and scared was just meh. It kind of felt like to flat and I have seen films that have worked those scaring technics better than they did in this movie. Besides that it’s was good but I would choose some other film to watch if I wanted to watch horror or thriller.

Score: 2 out of 5.

Hugs and sunshine to you~

Hotel Transylvania

HotelTransylvania

I actually watched Hotel Transsylvania in 31/-2012 but I hadn't started this blog at that time but I wanted to write about it anyway. So here we go!

Hotel Transylvania was a fun way to celebrate Halloween; I watched it with my aunt Malin and my mother’s cousin’s daughter Josefin (8 years old).

The animated movie is about count Dracula managing a high-end resort for monsters, so they can relax away from the humans. Count Dracula has invited the monsters over for his daughter Mavis 118 birthday. When a backpacking human boy stumbles through door of the resort and turns count Dracula’s world upside down.

HotelTransylvania
Such a nice crowd.

The idea of Dracula having a retreat for monsters sounded slightly funny to my ears. Even if it’s a movie for children it still had its fun moments, I do admit that did laugh a little bit here and there during the movie. Sure they could have some better looking characters but hey! It’s a children’s movie and I have seen much worst movies than that for children.

I'll give this movie a score of 2 ½ out of 5.

Hugs and sunshine to you!
